Congrats to Jeremy Gowan on winning the TOC this past Saturday at Shrewsbury Lanes! Jeremy qualified for the TOC on his first night with The Poker Pub and then won the Vegas trip in his first TOC. I don't think there's an easier way in St. Louis to get to Vegas for free! Mardi Gras was Saturday (take a look at the pictures, it was obvious), but you wouldn't know it as we had 147 players in Saturday night's TOC. And not an easy field at that!

Jeremy was having a tough time through the first few hours of the tournament. At one point, I heard he was close to being out! Then he started to catch some cards and flops bringing him to the final table with quite a stack (but barely the leader). After a half-hour's worth of very exciting hands, including one with four all-ins, we were down to Jeremy and our second place finisher and long-time Poker Pub player Caleb Hahn (congrats to you too Caleb - not a bad showing after a full day of Mardi Gras revelry!)

Jeremy and Caleb go back and forth for a while trading blinds and occaisionally seeing a flop and fold. Then came a big hand. Jeremy goes all-in pre-flop barely the chip leader and Caleb calls faster than a wildcat on caffeine. Jeremy rolls his A6o and Caleb is happy with the JT suited rocket-killer.

The flop is coming - 4d - no help - Ah - Jeremy takes a big lead - 3c and Caleb's left hoping for a longshot. With the Ace on the board, Caleb needs runner runner something (JJ, TT, cc, QK, etc.) to win the hand. The turn comes Ks and all that's left for Caleb is to get a Q for the win. The river pairs Caleb's J, but the A on the flop sealed his fate and gave Jeremy the win!

Jeremy will be joining a group of TOC winners this summer in Las Vegas as he competes in The Poker Pub's satellite for a $10,000 seat in this year's WSOP Main Event. Good luck Jeremy! (Kristan, those Godzilla beads are awesome!)

Will you be our next Las Vegas winner!

Congrats to Kevin Doll on winning the TOC this past Saturday at Shrewsbury Lanes! Kevin's played with The Poker Pub for a while now and waded through 168 tough players to win his trip to Vegas. Some tough calls and a little luck towards the end pulled down the big prize!

There were two really exciting hands at the final table. At one point, the final four were all-in at the same time! JJ, 22, AQ and K8 were all turned up! (Kevin had the AQ) The flop comes 9Q4 and Kevin is now on top! There were lots of opportunities to lose the lead though. Any 2, J or K will give another hand the lead. The turn comes 4 and the river comes 6 to give Kevin the hand and a reasonable chip stack. BUT - he's still not the chip leader.

Now Kevin and our second place finisher, Alan Berding, are heads-up. Alan holds a sizable lead over Kevin. Several hands go by as Kevin chips away at Alan's stack. The cards are just not going Alan's way. Alan even had Kevin all-in at one point with a KJ against Kevin's 88, but the snowmen held up. Several hands later, Alan gives a quick all-in. After a fleeting moment, Kevin calls - barely covering Alan's stack - and the excitement mounts!

The cards are flipped and to Kevin's delite, his KdQh is up against Js2s. Looks like Alan was on a pre-flop semi-bluff. However, the first card on the flop comes Jd...!! Alan's ahead! The next card comes Ts and Alan's lead is safe. The last card on the flop comes Kc and now Kevin is back in the lead! Turn - 6c - blank. Alan's now down to five cards that can help him pull this hand out. The river comes 6d to give Kevin the win and the trip to Vegas.

Kevin will be joining a group of TOC winners this summer in Las Vegas as he competes in The Poker Pub's satellite for a $10,000 seat in this year's WSOP Main Event. Good luck Kevin!

Will you be our next Las Vegas winner?

Congrats to Tonya Willmore on winning the TOC this past Saturday at Shrewsbury Lanes! Tonya is relatively new to The Poker Pub STL and waded through 151 tough players to win her trip to Vegas. The cards were going her way though as some of her tough calls proved.

Two hands really stood out for Tonya at the final table. The table was down to three players and our third place finisher, Jeff Howard, went all-in with pocket fours. Tonya thought for a while and called nearly all her stack with a K2 offsuit. She agonized as she saw the pair of fours she was up against hit the felt. But she spiked a King on the flop and never looked back. Congrats to Jeff Howard for taking third place in a tough field.

Now Tonya and previous TOC winner Jason Aquino were heads up. Jason barely had Tonya covered. A few hands into the heads-up match, Tonya made the call of the evening. Jason raised pre-flop and Tonya called. The flop came 3c, 6d, 2d. Tonya checked and Jason bet out. After thinking a while, Tonya called. The turn came 4s. Tonya checked again and Jason went all-in.

Now Tonya is in an agonizing position with more than half her chips already in the pot and needing to commit the rest to continue playing. Does Jason have a 5? Is he on a flush draw? Tonya took her time and thought through her options. Eventually, she committed all her chips and called with her T2 suited for a pair of 2s. How glad she was to see Jason's A7h!

The river was a blank and Tonya had taken nearly every chip. A few hands later visions of Vegas were dancing in her and her friends' heads!

Tonya will be joining a group of TOC winners this summer in Las Vegas as she competes in The Poker Pub's satellite for a $10,000 seat in this year's WSOP Main Event. Good luck Tonya!

Congrats to Ron Eckhard on winning the TOC this past Saturday at Shrewsbury Lanes! Ron had to go through a fairly large field stacked with many tough players. He proved to be on his game though making many tough calls and some really nice lay downs.

As the final table began to whittle down, Ron accumulated the majority of the chips and went heads up against Natalie Fox. The heads up dual was a short one simply because Ron was nearly 4 to 1 in chips and the blinds were 20K and 40K. Natalie's 150K in chips didn't have much of a chance. Within two hands the match was over. Ron moved all in on Natalie with JJ against Natalie's A 8 offsuit. The flop came Qs, 3h, and 7d. Natalie was now down to 2 cards and needed to spike an Ace or hit runner runner. The turn came 3d and the river was no help with a 8h.

Ron will be joining a group of TOC winners this summer in Las Vegas as he competes in the poker pub's satellite for a chance to win a $10,000 seat in this year's Main Event. Good luck Ron!

Congratulations to Tim Damazyn for winning a trip to Las Vegas and a seat in The Poker Pub National Championship! Next summer, Tim will be playing for a $10,000 seat in the 2006 WSOP Main Event!!

Tim won a hard and close battle last night over runner-up and previous champion Michele Burkhardt (congrats to you too Michele!). Michele was doing quite well and had Tim on the ropes with Tim ALL-IN at one point. On the POKER PUB ALL-IN MOMENT (ok, I'm having too much fun...) Tim's K4 hearts looked pretty good against Michelle's JQ. BUT - Michele picked up the straight on the turn. Now Tim's heart is sinking as he's preparing for a hard-fought second place finish. BUT - Tim caught his fifth heart on the river doubling him up and making him the chip leader!

A few hands later and with Tim having a slight chip lead over Michelle, they each go all-in. Tim turns over an A9 off to Michelle's A4 hearts. Brian deals the flop - Ts, Jh, 7d leaving Tim with the lead and an inside straight draw. Michelle could only hope for a 4 or a backdoor flush. Brian turns the 3c leaving Michelle with only three remaining fours that can help her. The river comes a blank (5s) and Tim is our Las Vegas bound winner!

Congratulations to everyone who played in the TOC last night! It truly is a feat to qualify and everyone is a winner just to play in the TOC. It was a great turnout and everyone had a great time!

Congratulations to Jason Aquino for winning a trip to Las Vegas and a seat in The Poker Pub National Championship! Next summer, Jason will be playing for a $10,000 seat in the 2006 WSOP Main Event!!

Jason won last night's tourney in fine fashion over our runner up Rob Jilek (congrats to you too Rob!). The final table was fast and furious with the mortal blow coming on a tough all-in call by Jason to nearly cover Rob's A6 off all-in. Jason flipped over an A9 off giving Rob three sixes as his only non-longshot hope. The board came out with no sixes or longshot flushes for Rob giving Jason a commanding 400K+ vs. 20K lead. A few hands later, we were taking pictures!

Congratulations to everyone who played in the TOC last night! It was a great turnout and everyone had a great time! If you want to see more pictures, click here.
